About hawks, falcons, and other raptors
Hawks and falcons look similar from a distance, but they're built differently. Falcons have pointed wings, faster wingbeats, and notched beaks for severing prey. Hawks have broader, rounder wings and stronger feet for gripping. Falcons are generally faster (Peregrine Falcons can hit 240 mph in a stoop, the fastest animals on earth) while hawks are more versatile hunters.
